Freshways £25m West Midlands dairy hub nears completion, creating 200 jobs

We have reached a major milestone in our £25 million investment in a new dairy processing and packaging facility in West Bromwich. The development was highlighted by the Chancellor in a speech to business leaders and investors at the UK Investment Summit, underlining its significance for the British dairy sector.

The site will process and package around 900 million pints of fresh British milk each year using more than 200 pieces of advanced processing machinery manufactured in India. When fully operational by the end of 2025 it will increase Freshways’ processing capacity by 25 percent and create at least 200 new jobs. Recruitment will focus on local talent and will include opportunities for young people through the Mayor’s Youth Employment Plan.

The Mayor’s office has released a video showcasing the site following a tour last week. The project has attracted national media coverage including The Grocer, Yahoo! News and TheBusinessDesk.com. A feature is also expected to air on ITV Central News.

Bali Nijjar, Managing Director of Freshways, said: “This investment strengthens our commitment to British dairy farming and creates real opportunities for people in the West Midlands. The new hub will allow us to collect more fresh milk from British farms and process it efficiently and sustainably before moving it on to our customers.”

The facility, located at Park Rose Industrial Estate, is one of the largest recent investments in dairy processing in the region. It reinforces Freshways’ commitment to building a resilient and sustainable dairy supply chain and supporting local communities.
